Login to the platform UI, expand settings on the left, click alerts and notifications, click mail server tab
Type in the mail server details and click submit
Click alert definitions tab, click the edit icon next to one of the alerts (You can turn of the alerts here to by clicking the toggle button)
Click the email notification tick box
Click email immediately
Enter email address
